Here are my improvements to the Millenium Ball

 

Step 1: Take apart the ball.

Step 2: Figure out how it works.
 
The circuit is straight forward.
There is a small chip buried in some epoxy that is the brains.
A simple dome switch to activate it.
And the signal just gets piped  to a speaker.

Step 3: Build a new circuit.

A Google seach produced a ciruit that will flash the LED in sync with the sound from the speaker.
It uses a few LEDs, an NPN transistor, a battery, and a resistor.

Step 4: Hook the new circuit up to the old.

Step 5: Cram it all back into the ball.
