James Webb Space Telescope

Some photos from a friend working on the James Webb Space Telescope.

A few bits of trivia.

  • The thermal vacuum chamber is 60 feet in diameter and has an indoor working height of 90 feet.
  • The door to the chamber is 40 feet tall and weighs 37 tons.
  • The Pathfinder on its fixture (called the HOSS) required 25 people to install it on the fixture. It rolls on rails into the chamber.
